Based
on all the media reports, its
hard to tell exactly what is going on in the aftermath of Katrina. One
thing, however, seems certain: it will take a very long time for the
region to
recover.
Even with the floodwater levels stabilizing (at least not rising) and
with New Orleans still partially submerged, the scale of the immediate
humanitarian crisis facing the entire region is huge.
Getting through the immediate crisis will by tough enough, then there's
putting whole cities like New Orleans and Biloxi back together. It
will take time.
