In the next week or two, we will be releasing Manila 9.6 and there are some features that you're going to really like. Manila 9.6
will include several important authoring enhancements that customers
have asked for. Though we have done a few teasers, here is a quick
summary of the biggies for both our enterprise and academic
weblog publishers:
:: Enhanced News Item Support
-- News Item Support for Multiple Departments
and Content Categories allows news items to be associated with more
than one department (or category) and may optionally appear only in the
department and not on the home page.
:: News Item Summary Feature allows you to create a summary of a more
lengthy news item and then publish the summary to the home page and
include in the RSS feed. Additionally, we have added the ability to
simply allow the author to make a news item into a story (or create a
news item at the same time you create a story) when its published and
like discussion group messages, these news items can be assigned a url.
I won't go into lots of detail, but suffice it to say that there is quite a bit more - including:
:: Enhanced Picture Support in Themes
:: New Database Subscription Features
:: Theme designer Features such as Color macro support in cascading style sheets
:: Admin Site Improvements
:: Mac OS Scripting Improvements
:: A Bunch of New XML Verbs and other Developer Features
:: Miscellaneous Enhancements and Bug Fixes
In case you just can't wait, click the
button and download/upgrade to Manila 9.5 - then you will get the
addition features as soon as they are ready.
