The 2004 election is destined to really heat up the blogosphere. Here is an announcement from the Washington Post announcing a contest in a couple of categories for the Best Blogs of the election.
On Monday July 26, 2004, washingtonpost.com announced that they are launching Best Blogs ñ Politics and Elections, Readerís Choice Awards 2004, a contest to select those blogs that exemplify the best use of the medium in their coverage of the presidential elections.
From the first day of the Democratic National Convention through September 3, 2004, they are taking nominations from readers and bloggers alike in such categories as: Best Democratic Party Coverage, Best Republican Party Coverage, Best Beltway Outsider, Most Original Blog, Most Likely to Last Beyond Election Day, Class Clown, and others. A second round of votes for finalists begins September 27, 2004. Winners will be announced October 25, 2004.
I guess they feel that the blog phenomenon is a trend worth broader recognition. You can participate and help spread the word ñ as a nominator or nominee, or by letting your readers and fellow bloggers know about the contest.
