Yes, we are getting ready for our first release in a while.  Look for the beta to be available early next week. Its Manila 9.0.1 and its easier to install, quicker to set-up, and prettier to look at then ever before. Weíve fixed bugs, improved the user interface, and added some features that make community hosting easier and more flexible. We have also updated the theme set, included more documentation, and made installation much easier.

We still have RSS, Edit This Page, and powerful browser-based website configuration. Manila 9.0.1 also includes new website hosting options that can be configured on a per-site basis. Very Cool.

To answer that age old question, yes, prices will be going up with the release of Manila 9.1 in the summer - we continue to encourage all our current customers to renew at the 2001 price level prior to the increase. An email bulletin will also go out next week.

Here is one aspect of the Fast Company article that I really liked - The Hartford Financial Services Group use of UserLand's Manila web publishing and weblogging software.

"The Hartford Financial Services Group is already finding success using blogs in one of its mobile groups. A team of 40 field technology managers, who serve as links between The Hartford's network of insurance agents and the home office, set up a blog in August. They use it to share information about e-commerce features and solutions to technology problems. Before, email and voice mail sufficed, but email threads would die, and there was no way to search past shared information."

The Fast Company article "Its a Blog World After All" came out today and while it was interesting and it mentioned a bunch of our customers, it didn't attribute those customers to UserLand. Manila and RSS are really starting to happen in the corporate world and it goes well beyond just simple blogging tools into the way corporations consume and synthesize information as well as communicate it - both internally and externally.
