Question: Do you know Userland's production schedule and timeframe to support iTunes tags in the Userland application?
Answer: Not yet. Since the extensions were just released and there appears to
be a fair amount of controversy around them - its a bit
of a loaded question. ;-)
Anyway, its great to have Apple on-board, but unlike Microsoft's
announcement at Gnomedex, Apple's extensions don't appear to have the
same level of buy-in from the community at present. Maybe they don't care. If they do, it could get there,
but changes may be necessary and prudent on their part. As with all
specs, this could affect how quickly the extensions are adopted by us
and everyone else.
It feels like a trial balloon. Participation in iTunes does not
currently require these extensions, but a quick flip of the switch
could change that, freeze the extensions, and make them mandatory. That
hasn't happened yet. Let's hope they listen to the comments.
